There’s always
A man with a plan
Or a golden handshake
An electric mind
And emotional earthquake

Ups and downs
Leaders and clowns
The river of life
Not the oasis of calm
We’d like it to be
More a raging torrent
Or tsunami

So learn to swim
Swim hard, and fast
Survive in that ocean
Shark-infested, and vast

Learn to surf
That tidalwave of grief
Waste no time in regret
Or disbelief

Knowing life is a giver
But a taker, too
