Hope
Hope floats
Or so they say
Falls, vertiginous too
Down the sheer cliff face
Of unrequited love that’s due
That tender hymen
Of hope
So achingly fragile
Vulnerable to
Life’s agregious assaults
Yet fortress-strong
All the while
Willow-resilient
Bending, twisting
But never rending
Beautiful in its
Dog-like devotion
Determined draught
Upon life’s ocean
Hope
The very last frontier
As essential to the
Human condition
As air
Hope breathes
Hope floats
Hope sings
Eternal siren
To lost sailors’ boats
March 2026: a time of struggle – and hope
