Discovery
He was in fine fettle
But could not settle
So he grabbed the mettle
And set off
For a life
Lived to discover
Which is why
He’s got a mother
Of a hangover
And contemplating
Another
The wages of a life
Lived to discover
Cities of light
Deserts of night
Pushing boundaries
And deadlines
Diving for cover
All in a life
Lived to discover
Cultures
And vultures
Meeting real legends
Messaging loved ones on his mind
Hard to convey
His scintillating journey
To those left behind
Yet his goal remains elusive
A Holy Grail
Which cannot be found by
Road or rail, boat or plane
A recurring dream, always the same
A dream which he knows
Cannot be left in middle age
To slide past its sell-by date
Upon a shelf
A life lived to discover
Is to discover another self
